The Brazilian equestrian team and their horses are in training for the Olympic Games in the Anglia region. They've swapped the tropical climate of their homeland for the more temperate climes of the Bedfordshire-Cambridgeshire countryside to prepare for London 2012.

The team will spend four months at Waresley Park Stud between St Neots and Biggleswade.

In four years the tables will be turned and it'll be Brazil's turn to play Olympic host.

The three equestrian events in the Olympic Games - dressage, eventing and jumping - take place at Greenwich Park. A total of 200 athletes will compete for six gold medals. Equestrian is the only Olympic sport in which men and women compete against each other on equal terms.

  • At the Olympic Games horses must be at least eight-years-old for Dressage and Eventing, and nine-years-old for Jumping.

  • The Cross Country course in Eventing is between 5,700 and 6,840m long.

  • Women first participated in Olympic Eventing at the Tokyo 1964 Games.

  • Obstacles on a Jumping course may include parallel rails, triple bars, water jumps and simulated stone walls.

  • Jumping was the first Equestrian discipline included at an Olympic Games.
