Blackburn teenager guilty of attempting to travel to Syria to join IS
A teenager from Blackburn who was reported to police by his worried family has been convicted of terror offences.
Ednane Mahmood, 19, was convicted of preparing to commit act of terrorism.
It's thought he was trying to join the so-called Islamic State in Syria.
During the trial at Manchester Crown Court, the Jury were told Mahmood's family didn't know he was trying to get to Syria but police later found a letter which read "I have gone to fight".
He was stopped by police at Manchester Airport last September when coming back from Turkey.
He was also found guilt of providing internet links to others with speeches and propaganda that encouraged acts of terrorism.
Mahmood has been told he will be sentenced on December 11 and is likely to be jailed.
