Keep Wales Tidy have announced filmstar Michael Sheen as their new ambassador. The Port Talbot star now lives in Los Angeles but says he loves returning to Wales. He says it's a "beautiful country that should be cared for and enjoyed by all."

"Our local environment has a huge impact on our health and wellbeing and how we feel about ourselves. We need to work together to restore areas and make them places where people want to go.

The 43-year-old says he was "especially impressed" with the work carried out by Keep Wales Tidy within schools and communities, which encourages people from all walks of life to get involved in restoring their own towns and villages.

I think anything that encourages people to work together, to take pride in the area they’re in and to work together, creating a community spirit is a fantastic thing to get involved in. Anyone can help and I encourage people across Wales to do their bit."

His new role as ambassador to the Welsh charity is one he takes "very seriously", he says. He hopes it will encourage other people to get involved in caring for their environment.
