Free train travel offered to veterans and armed forces for Remembrance Day

Free train travel will be offered to serving military personnel and veterans during this year's Remembrance Day commemorations.
This will include any trains from London terminals on either Saturday 8 or Sunday 9 November, with return travel on Sunday 9 November only.
For Remembrance Day services taking place outside of London, free return travel will be available on Sunday 9 November only.
Services will be taking place across the South Coast, including at Southampton's Guildhall Square, Chichester's Litten Gardens and at Bournemouth's War Memorial.
Adur and Worthing Councils have announced five ceremonies in Lancing, Shoreham-by-Sea, Sompting, Southwick and Worthing.
The Mayor of Worthing, Councillor Cathy Glynn-Davies, said: "I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the many local organisations from Worthing and further afield who continue to support our annual Remembrance Service and Parade."
The free rail travel offer is open to serving military personnel in uniform or carrying a current MOD90 Ministry of Defence-issued identity card, and to veterans with a Veterans Railcard, Veterans Oyster card, MOD-issued Veterans ID or other appropriate proof of service.
It also extends to Royal British Legion volunteers and collectors travelling to and from London Poppy Day on Thursday 30 October, with travel allowed between October 29 and 31.
Network Rail said its stations played a vital role in mobilising troops, transporting supplies, and sustaining the country during the war.
Jacqueline Starr, Executive Chair and CEO at Rail Delivery Group, said: "The railway has always been closely connected to Remembrance, with so many rail workers themselves having given their lives during the World Wars.
"We are proud to continue that connection by helping serving personnel, veterans, and volunteers attend the services and events that mean so much to them.”
