Killed women: The stories of women and girls killed in the East of England in the past year

Women killed at the hands of men in the last 12 months in Anglia region.

This is the scale of the issue of male violence against women in its starkest form.

Pictured above are the women whose lives were cut short in the last 12 months in cases where a man has been convicted, charged or arrested.

They were loving, daughters, mothers and partners.

After the MP Jess Phillips stood in the House of Commons to read the names of women killed in the last year, ITV News Anglia has collated the stories of those from the East of England.

Juliana Falcon, 48, and her daughter Giselle Prosper, 13, were shot dead by their son and brother Nicholas Prosper, 19, at their home in Luton on 13 September 2024.

Prosper also murdered his brother Kyle, 16, but was stopped by police before he could carry out a planned school shooting nearby.

Paying tribute, their family said Juliana was "a strong, loving mother", an athlete and charity fundraiser, while Giselle was an "exceptional" Year 9 pupil with an "infectious smile".

Prosper has admitted their murders and is due to be sentenced later this month.

Carol Hunt, Louise Hunt and Hannah Hunt

Carol Hunt was murdered alongside her two daughters Louise Hunt and Hannah Hunt at their family home in a quiet cul-de-sac in Bushey, Hertfordshire, on 9 July 2024.

Kyle Clifford, Louise Hunt's former partner, shot her through the chest with a crossbow bolt after he stabbed her mother to death. Hannah Hunt was also shot.

They were the family of BBC commentator John Hunt.

Clifford pleaded guilty to three counts of murder, one of false imprisonment against Louise Hunt, and two counts of possession of offensive weapons.

On Thursday, he was found guilty of raping Louise Hunt following a trial at Cambridge Crown Court.

Courtney Mitchell was murdered by her abusive ex-boyfriend in the street in Ipswich on 6 August 2024.

Logan Burnett tracked the mum-of-three down and chased her after she had begun a new relationship, stabbing her to death.

Burnett was jailed for life with a minimum term of 24 years in prison after pleading guilty to murder.

Maria Nugara

Maria Nugara was murdered alongside her 29-year-old stepson Giuseppe Morreale, after having taken steps to divorce her husband Calogero Ricotta.

Previously known as Maria Ricotta, she was killed at her family home in Ugley, Essex, near Bishop's Stortford, on 28 May 2024.

Calogero Ricotta was found guilty of two counts of murder and one count of causing actual bodily harm to a third victim.

He was given a life sentence with a minimum term of 34 years in prison.

Harshita Brella had been identified as "high risk of domestic abuse" in the months before she was found dead in a car boot in Ilford, London, on 14 November 2024.

Police suspect she was killed in Corby, Northamptonshire, by her husband Pankaj Lamba, who is believed to have fled the country.

An international manhunt has been launched to find him and is continuing, with detectives following "numerous lines of inquiry", Northamptonshire Police said on Thursday.

Women's deaths where the lead suspect is male:

Anita Rose

Mother-of-six Anita Rose was found unconscious with a serious head injury after going on a dog walk in Brantham, Suffolk, on 24 July 2024.

She died in hospital four days later.

Roy Barclay, of no fixed address, has been charged with and denies her murder. He is due to stand trial on 27 May.

Joanne Pearson, 38, and Teohna Grant, 24, died on Christmas Day from stab wounds at Santa Cruz Avenue, Bletchley.

Jazwell Brown, 49, has been charged with their murders and is set to stand trial on 17 June.

He has also been charged with the attempted murder of Bradley Latter, 29, and of a teenage boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

He is also charged with possession of a knife in a public place and causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal, a Staffordshire bull terrier, in connection with the incident.

Margaret Worby, 84, was found dead at home in Dunstable on 23 January.

Her husband, Roger Worby, 83, has been charged with her murder.

Dianne Cleary, 46, died following an "altercation" at a house on Turners Road North, Luton, on 20 January, with another woman in her 20s also hurt.

Jacob Clark, 25, has been charged with Ms Cleary's murder.

Simone Smith

Simone Smith, 35, was found dead at her flat in Huntingdon on 26 February, with a murder investigation launched by Cambridgeshire Police.

Officers were called to Hinchingbrooke Hospital after Cody Parker was found hanged in public toilets the following morning, with police treating his death as linked to Ms Smith's.

Her family said Simone was a "kind-hearted soul" and "completely irreplaceable".

Julie Buckley, 54, was reported missing after not being seen since late January and without her body being found, police have launched a murder investigation.

Rivers have been searched and a 47-year-old man from Christchurch, Cambridgeshire, has been charged with murder.

Kelly Anderson, who was in her 40s, was found dead in a flat in Lowestoft, Suffolk, on Saturday morning.

A 49-year-old man from Lowestoft who was arrested on suspicion of murder has since been bailed until May.

Carol Georgiou died in an incident on 2 November in Holywell Place in Milton Keynes.

A man in his 40s who was arrested on suspicion of murder has since been released on bail.

Her family said in a statement released through police they said she was a "wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, and mother".

The murder investigation led by Thames Valley Police continues.
