Grace Forell’s guide to getting organised and transforming your space
What if being organised could help you live longer? As a new study revealed that those who describe themselves as such lived to an older age, consumer expert Grace Forell is here to help you sort out your clutter and share her practical tips to transform your space, habits and your wellbeing.
START BY STAYING ON TOP OF LIFE ADMIN:
Start with a good calendar. Use a physical one or the one on your phone that you can glance at and make changes wherever you are. Here you can add birthdays, appointments, admin tasks and what to pack in children’s school bags each day.
Set notifications so that you never miss anything and integrate work and personal diaries into one view.
WHAT ABOUT TO-DO LISTS?
A detailed to-do list is crucial, ideally digital so that you can make changes to it and easily mark things as complete or backlog. Categorise by work, family and household. Try an app such as Todoist.
If you feel overwhelmed by life admin, try ‘batching’ tasks, where you give yourself an hour a week where you deal with everything in one go.
YOU SHOULD ‘AUTOMATE’ WHERE POSSIBLE.
Automate wherever possible. If you find you run out of things a lot, use subscription services for everything from laundry detergent to healthy meal kits.
Pay for bills using direct debit so you don’t need to remember to pay.
Taking some time to set all of these things up, will mean far less stress in the long run and there is a clear link between too much stress and a shortened life - according to this new study.
