Three charged in Cardiff murder investigation

Three men have been charged in connection with the death of 35-year-old Russell Peachey, who died following an assault in Cardiff.

Dean Anthony Beasley, 37, from Barry, Shaminder Singh, 40, from Cardiff and Christopher James Smith, aged 34, also from Cardiff have been remanded in custody.

All three are due to appear at Cardiff Magistrates Court tomorrow charged with murder.

Russell Peachey was found unconscious on North Street in Grangetown in the early hours of Saturday morning and later died of his injuries.

We understand that the local community is shocked by this incident. We would like to reassure the residents of Grangetown that we will not tolerate this type of violent behaviour in our community and that we will respond quickly to such incidents.

Cardiff murder inquiry - police appeal for Barry man

Police officers in Cardiff investigating the murder of Russell Peachey in the Grangetown area of the city are appealing for information on a man they want to question.

Detective are appealing for details concerning the whereabouts of James Mark Williams, 31, from the Barry area.

Russell Peachey was found in the early hours of Saturday morning and later died of his injuries.

Anyone who has any information concerning the location of this man is asked to contact South Wales Police on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 and quote reference 1500279043.

Third person arrested in Cardiff murder probe

Detectives in Cardiff investigating the murder of Russell Peachey have arrested a third person in connection with the incident.

A 37 year old man from Barry was taken into custody late on Sunday night.

Mr Peachey was found in the early hours of Saturday morning in the Grangetown area of the city. He was taken to hospital but later died of his injuries.

Two other men have been arrested in connection with the incident.

We have had a lot of positive responses to our appeal for information.

I am still appealing to anyone who was in the area of North Street, Thomas Street and Penarth Road between 03:30hrs and 04:20hrs, and may have witnessed the incident to contact police if they have not already done so.”

Police have named a man who died after being found unconscious on a Cardiff street as 35-year-old Russell Peachey.

He was found in the early hours of Saturday morning in the Grangetown area of the city. It's thought he'd been seriously assaulted.

Two men have since been arrested in connection with the incident.

Police say the murder investigation is ongoing, and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

To date we have received a positive response to our appeal for information and would like to thank members of the public and the local community who have assisted the investigation. As we progress our enquiries I continue to appeal to anyone who was in the area of North Street, Thomas Street and Penarth Road between 03:30hrs and 04:20hrs, and may have witnessed the incident to contact police.

Murder investigation after man dies following Cardiff assault

A man has died after a serious assault in Cardiff, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police were called to the scene in North Street, in the Grangetown area of the city just after 4 am. A 35 year old man was taken to hospital but later died of his injuries. His next of kin have been informed.
