Hadrians Wall

The artefact was discovered at the Roman fort of Vindolanda by experts at Newcastle University and University College Dublin.

Historic England is giving a £10,000 grant, which will fund fund ten bursary places on the 2023 digs at the Vindolanda Roman settlement near Hexham.

English Heritage said 13 sites had been saved in the North East, while eight sites were added to the Heritage at Risk Register.
