Watch: A look back to Channel Island past...

Before ITV Channel Television came on air in 1962, if you wanted to see moving pictures of the week's main news stories, you had to go to the cinema.

Most people in the islands would have recognised the rooster calling to herald the start of the British Pathe newsreel.

Their cameras captured often weird and wonderful images from across the globe as well as events which shaped our history.

And they were no strangers to the Channel Islands.
