'Job done' for Bishop ahead of Reds departure
Former Jersey RFC captain David Bishop has told ITV News it’s “job done” at the Reds as he prepares to leave the club at the end of the season.
Bishop is one of Jersey’s longest serving players and helped them win promotion to the Championship in 2012 in the first of his four seasons at the club.
The Welshman is one of eleven players to be released by the club, a list that also includes Jonny Bentley, Mark Foster and Michael Noone.
Bishop is likely to feature in Saturday’s Siam Cup match against Guernsey against St Peter and says his time with Jersey has helped him rediscover his love of the game.
“I've loved it, I came to Jersey to start enjoying my rugby again and came here in National One with Ben Harvey and we had a great season and won the league,” explained Bishop.
“We then had two years fighting for survival and I enjoyed those just as much, the fans have been amazing and I've loved every minute.
“It feels as if I came here to do a job I had a brief when I came here and I think it's job done.
“I'd like to come back here in years to come and see Jersey top four and maybe pushing again.”
Also leaving the club are Paulo Kaho, Gareth Harris, Ben Maidment, Grant Pointer, Myles Landick, Tobias Hoskins and Ryan Glynn.
