FA look into Dave Whelan's comments about Chinese people

The Football Association says it is looking into comments made by Wigan Athletic owner Dave Whelan about Chinese people.

In an interview with the Jewish Telegraph, the 78-year-old said he "used to call the Chinese Chingalings".

Whelan is already under investigation for comments he made about Jewish and Chinese people when defending the appointment of Malky Mackay as the club's new manager.

Whelan 'must be punished for latest remarks'

Wigan owner Dave Whelan must be punished for his latest remarks about Chinese people, a Chinese community leader has told ITV News.

"If we let one go then another people will think it's alright," Michael Wilkes, from the British Chinese Project, told ITV News' Ian Payne.

"He set a precedent and he needs to pay the consequences.

"He is the representative of that football club [Wigan Athletic] and the Football Association has to take a very strong stance on this."
