A young boy was injured when riding his bike after someone left a rope across the pathway near a school in Colchester.
Police urgently want to contact any members of the public who were in the area of Alderman Blaxhill School, Paxman Avenue at around 4pm and may have seen the rope being set up.
Michael, a young local resident, was riding his bicycle and did not spot the rope, which flung him metres from his bike onto the pavement. He also suffered a severe burn mark to his neck.
"Not only is this an act of complete stupidity, but could have caused Michael a lot worse injuries than he has been left with. Whoever is responsible may have thought this was simply a childish prank, but we are taking this matter seriously and treating it as assault. We do not want children, who are out playing, to have to worry or encounter this type of stupidity.
If anyone has any information please contact Pc Butcher at the Area Investigation team at Colchester Police Station on 101.
