Mother and baby 'in good health' after stabbing

Police in Scunthorpe have released a man who was arrested after the stabbing of a pregnant woman in Belton, near Scunthorpe.

The woman was stabbed on Ashtree Close

The 25-year-old's baby was delivered at Scunthorpe Hospital and police say both are in good health.

A 45-year-old man was arrested but has been released unconditionally while a 28-year-old man remains in police custody.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the stabbing on Ashtree Close on Wednesday evening to contact them.

Detective Inspector Alan Curtis said:

"I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have seen one of two vehicles, either in the vicinity of Ashtree Close around the time the incident took place, or if anyone saw either of these vehicles driving away from Belton in the direction of Scunthorpe.

"The two vehicles are a silver coloured Ford Focus and a red Seat Leon. As part of the investigation we have spoken to a number of witnesses however, I think there are people out there who know something and may not have yet come forward."
