Man due in court over attempted murder of pregnant mother

A man is due to appear in court today charged with attempted murder and one count of attempted child destruction after a pregnant woman was stabbed at her home in Belton in North Lincolnshire.

The twenty five year old woman , who was almost eight months pregnant, and her baby daughter, who was delivered prematurely, are recovering in Scunthorpe General Hospital , where their condition is described as stable.

Twenty eight year old Nicholas James Leaning of Scunthorpe is due to appear before the town's magistrates this morning in connection with the stabbing.
