The wet weather will continue into today, with many areas expecting rain late this afternoon. Friday saw two weeks' worth fall in 12 hours, and several areas in the region have already seen localised flooding.
16 tonnes of silt were removed from the river at Crawshawbooth near Rawtenstall in an attempt to avoid the problem, and residents had to be evacuated from Knott Street in Darwen as the water levels began to affect the structure of one of the buildings.
The Environment Agency issued 3 flood warnings for our region on Friday: for the River Darwen at Darwen, the River Roch at Littleborough and the River Spodden at Whitworth. They also put out 12 flood alerts, for Lancashire and parts of Greater Manchester.
